By the Seashore

I love this new stamp set called By the Seashore and it made a perfect summery setting for this card.  I used a sponge dauber and Marina Mist ink to create the ocean and Crumb Cake cardstock for the sand.  I stamped the sand dollar on Crumb Cake with Crumb Cake ink and stamped the crab onto Riding Hood Red with Cherry Cobbler ink.  The feather is from the new stamp set Fine Feathers and is stamped with Basic Gray ink on Sahara Sand cardstock.  The branches in the corner are actually from the Tags 'Til Christmas set and I colored them with Old Olive and Wild Wasabi markers.  The sentiment is from the new stamp set From My Heart.  I used the Labels Framelits--one to emboss and a larger one to cut, then inked the edges using Marina Mist ink.

Summer Smooches Purses

I teach at a wonderful school with some terrific students.  Two girls helped me in the classroom all year long and I wanted to give them a little thank you gift.  The Petite Purse Bigz L die makes these super cute purses, just the perfect size for a chapstick.  I added two of the Summer Smooches fabric brads that were only available in April.  The girls LOVED them and they were the hit of the class.  They even made up a little song to go with them and carried them all through recess!  Thanks again for all your help, Jessica and Skylar!

Elephant Birthday

A special little guy is celebrating his first birthday this month.  In his honor, I made this punch art elephant just for him.  Here's how:

Use the 1 3/8 inch circle punch for his head and again for his trunk.  I did trim a bit of his trunk with paper snips.  Use the retired butterfly punch for his ears, the 1 3/4 inch circle punch for his body, the 3/4 inch circle punch for his legs and the balloon, the bird builder punch for his tail (the branch part only), the owl builder punch for the balloon bottom (the owl's feet), the scallop edge punch for the grass (trim out a tiny triangle in each scallop to make the blades of grass), and the scallop circle for the clouds (use a sponge dauber to create).  I inked the edges of the elephant with Basic Gray, and the balloon with Marina Mist.  I stamped the sentiment from Up, Up, and Away using Marina Mist and punched out using the Curly Label punch.  Add some baker's twine for the balloon and put it all together for a one-of a kind birthday card.

Happy first birthday, Wesley!

Thanks to SU! demonstrator Lisa Tedder for the inspiration for the elephant!

Money Birthday Card

I needed a quick birthday present and card, so I based this card off of several other money cards I have seen.  I folded the money making sure the 10 was showing on top, and used paper clips to secure it in place on top of the scrap of old Sale-a-bration paper.  I made a few more candles with other scraps and topped them off with pieces of baker's twine for the wicks.  (Note:  for the wick on the money candle, I tied the baker's twine to the paper clip and it stayed in place without adhesive)

Apothecary Arts Framelits

For my recent stamp camp, we used the Apothecary Accents framelits to create this card.  The colors are the new in-colors Midnight Muse and Gumball Green.  Stampers customized this card to fit their needs using the Teeny Tiny Wishes set; shown here is the "happy birthday" sentiment.  The ribbon is the new 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon, also in Gumball Green.

World Treasures

Finally my order from the new Stampin' Up! catalog arrived!  These samples are the first creations I made using the set World Treasures.  All of the colors are the new in-colors for 2012-2014:  Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit and Gumball Green.  I stamped the peacock in one color.  Then I stamped again in another color and cut out the body, adhering it on top of the first stamped image.  Then I colored the tail feathers using the Marvelous Markers.  The jewels add the perfect amount of shine to top off the cards.
